On 27–28 November, Eurofedop Secretary General Bert Van Caelenberg took part in a seminar titled “European Labour Authority (ELA): Evaluation and Involvement of Workers’ Organisations” held in Malta. The event was organised by the Maltese trade union UHM – Voice of the Workers and EZA (European Centre for Workers’ Questions).
The seminar brought together representatives from workers’ organisations across Europe and offered a valuable opportunity to engage directly with officials from the European Labour Authority, including its Executive Director, Ambassador Cosmin Boiangiu.
During the meeting, the Secretary General presented Eurofedop’s views on the role of trade unions within the ELA framework. He also highlighted a forthcoming Eurofedop project on pension reforms and social benefits in the public sector, which will take place in Bratislava—home to the ELA headquarters.

Good news from Kosovo: no more delays in Post & Telecoms salary payments
From October 2025 onwards, regular salary payments and additional benefits are defined and secured within the Collective Agreement for Post & Telecommunications workers in Kosovo. This is a welcome result after a tough period of time of delayed payments for workers in the sector. These achievements are due to the continuous hard work of the union, FSP-PTK, as well as the unwavering support of EUROFEDOP.
Lamih Balaj, Chairman of the Independent Trade Union Federation of Post and Telecommunications of Kosovo, FSP-PTK, and Member of the Board of the Executive Committee of EUROFEDOP is pleased about this result and stresses that benefits such as daily meals, jubilee bonuses, and work experience are now being implemented as part of the workers’ rights.
“This marks an important step towards the full implementation of the Collective Agreement and is a significant achievement for the well-being of our workers, thanks to the advice and support of EUROFEDOP”, he states.

23 June 2025 - Public Service Day
In a world of constant change, one thing remains reliable: our public service.
On the International Day of Public Service, we place the spotlight on all those who keep our country running day after day – with dedication, competence, and a strong sense of responsibility.
In a time marked by conflict, uncertainty, and global crises, europas public service stands for continuity, stability, and security. Through their daily efforts, our colleagues ensure that administration, education, healthcare, security, and justice function reliably – even when much around us is in turmoil.
These contributions deserve not only respect but also sufficient resources and dependable framework conditions. Now more than ever, it is clear how indispensable a strong public service is as a pillar of the rule of law, democratic values, and social cohesion.
Eurofedop will continue to stand up with full commitment for all colleagues in public service – in political debate, in society, and in negotiations with employers.

European elections from 6 to 9 June 2024
720 MEPs from 27 European countries were elected. Around 358 million Europeans were eligible to vote. It is pleasing that, contrary to all expectations, the European People's Party (EPP) emerged as the big winner of the election, rather than the radical right-wing parties. EUROFEDOP shares a common set of values with the EPP. Christian-social values and roots are thus once again gaining more importance in European politics.
The constituent session of the European Parliament will take place in Strasbourg on 16 July (16 to 19 July 2024). In addition to the election of the President and Vice-Presidents of the Parliament, the number and composition of the standing committees will also be determined at this session.
Our organisations from the EU member states maintain close contact with the members of the European Parliament so that our demands and concerns can also influence the European debate in this way. EUROFEDOP is an important voice in Europe for the interests of all public service organisations and therefore all public employees.
